Constructability Review or Peer Review is a group of professionals who conduct independent and structured review of construction bid documents (drawings and specifications). They verify that the work requirements are clear and that the drawings and specifications are coordinated. They identify inconsistencies before a project is built to reduce or prevent errors, delays, and cost overruns. The District solicited a fee proposal from Vanir Construction Management Inc. to perform the Constructability Review of the New Gym Project for the Bayside Academy. Constructability review will be done concurrent with the DSA review and comments will be addressed prior to backcheck with DSA.

The existing carpet flooring in Room 12 at North Shoreview needs replacement as it has become too thin, worn out, and unraveling at the seams. However, the existing carpet will be replaced with the new District Standard flooring for classrooms, which is linoleum flooring or sheet vinyl. Through the California Uniform Public Construction Cost Accounting process (CUPCCA), the District solicited a bid from Eternal Construction for the installation of the flooring and new rubber base.

On January 21, 2010, the Board of Trustees approved the Facility Master Plan (FMP) which included security fencing and gates at multiple schools as Priority 1, Category 1 classification. As part of the District-wide Security Fencing Project, the Administration approved a contract with Electronic Innovations in the amount of $32,832 to provide and install a gate operator for a vehicle drive gate and 1 pedestrian gate. These were District requests and corrections are necessary to add automation to 10 more pedestrian gates. This work pertains to the installation of ornamental security fencing at Borel Middle School as part of the District-wide Security Fencing Project. The cost of Change Order No. 1 to the original contract is $18,996 (58% of the original contract). The new contract amount will be $51,828 which is within the Measure L Security Fencing Project budget. This work will meet the necessary Division of State Architect (DSA) requirements including American Disability Act (ADA) access, fire access, and emergency egress.

Because the District has multiple Garaventa ADA Compliant Chair Lifts installed already and Pacific Access Elevator was involved with the District Wide Security Fencing Architect, HKIT Architects, in the design of the compliant Path of Travel (POT) into the Administration office from the school parking lot and the City sidewalk. Pacific Access Elevator was awarded the contract to attend jobsite meetings, manufacture, load, deliver, store, and install the chair lift. This work will provide the necessary requirements to meet the Division of State Architect (DSA) requirements including American Disability Act (ADA) access.

One of the main sewer lines at Laurel Elementary School has on going issues with being clogged. This affects the toilet rooms in the Multi-Use Room, and the Kitchen in the Multi-Use Room. Maintenance & Operations has called for a plumber for an assessment of the plumbing lines. Through the use of video cameras, it was determined that the sewer line has breaks at the joints on two locations. To further complicate the repairs, the sewer line is located 8 feet below grade. Through the California Uniform Public Construction Cost Accounting process, the District solicited a proposal from Caccia Plumbing for the repairs of the plumbing line.

The Trustees met with CSBA Consultant Luan Rivera on January 20, 2018 and May 31, 2018 to review and update governance expectations, norms, responsibilities, protocols and practices and to codify those agreed upon standards in the San Mateo – Foster City School District Governance Handbook. The Trustees will review these governance standards and ensure that they are properly presented in the Governance Handbook.
