Director Daniels called the Policy Subcommittee Meeting to order at 3:05pm.

Motion to approve meeting agenda in the following order:

Public Comment
Three people commented on the Expulsion/Suspension AR

DISCUSSION:
AR 5144.3: Expulsions/AR 5144.1: Suspension Due Process

Alper explained that the revised AR 5144.1 contains suspension related language pulled from the old AR 5144.3. Participants reviewed the language.

Community Process for Facilities
Director of Facilities Tim White explained that the current facilities community process procedures were established in 2013. The goal now is to shorten the timeline, particularly around community engagement during extensive construction projects. Participants agreed that this should be articulated in an AR. White will return with a draft AR for discussion at the next policy committee meeting. 

Social Media Policy/Communication Protocols for Threats to Groups
Director of BSEP and Community Relations Natasha Beery explained that the need for an updated media relations policy fits with the need of a crisis communication protocol. She proposed combining the draft AR on communication protocols for threats to groups that is currently being crafted with existing AR 1112.1 regarding crisis communications. Beery will present a revised version of AR 1112.1 at the next policy meeting.

Director of Technology Jay Nitschke presented the social media and communications policies. Participants reviewed proposed language. Proposed revisions will be presented to the PTA Council for input.

Next meeting will be on Friday, November 18 at 3pm in Room 126.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
Per the FPM audit findings for Educational Equity, updates to the following Board Policies and/or Administrative Regulations must be made:

BP5145.3 Student: Nondiscrimination/Harassment: amend the "name, title, office address and phone number of the administrator delegated as the Title IX Compliance Officer"

BP4119.11 Personnel: Sexual Harassment: (a) amend the "name, title, office address and phone number of the administrator delegated as the Title IX Compliance Officer" and (b) "Amend the "Personnel: Sexual Harassment" board policy to reflect the current practices of the district office or change the practices of the district office to match the procedures outlined in the board policy"

AR4145.7 Student: Sexual Harassment: "update to reflect the name, title, office address and phone number of the administrator delegated as the Title IX Compliance Officer"

AR1312.3 Uniform Complaint Procedures: While the UCP was not included in the findings, the UCP AR1312.3 is also being brought forward with updates related to the name and title of the Compliance Officer/Title IX Coordinator.
