Pursuant to California Government Code Section 54953, Director Ty Alper will be participating via teleconference at the following location: Stanford University Medical Center, 300 Pasteur Drive, Room E20, Stanford, CA 94305. This agenda will be posted at the foregoing location at least 72 hours before the May 19 Board Policy Committee meeting is scheduled to commence. Public participation will be permitted at the teleconferencing location. Government Code Section 54953 requires that all votes taken during the teleconferencing meeting shall be by roll call.

Chair Daniels called the Policy Subcommittee Meeting to order at 12:05pm.

Approval of Agenda
At the request of Alper, the inter district policy was moved first on the agenda and will be followed by communications and complaints policies. 

Motion to approve agenda as amended:
Alper/Daniels and unanimously 2-0.

Public Comment
One comment on complaints 

Inter District Transfers
Participants reviewed proposed language and discussed case-by-case determinations in granting inter district transfers based on a student’s attendance, grades and behavior.

Communications Policies

BP/AR1113
Natasha Beery explained that the proposed policies were modeled after CSBA’s samples. Participants discussed language.

Motion to present BP/AR1113 to the Board for first reading:
Daniels/Alper and approved 2-0.

BP/AR1114 will be addressed at a future meeting.

Complaints
Alper explained that he has looked into how other school districts structure their complaint processes. BUSD currently has four different complaint procedures that overlap and could potentially be collapsed into a single streamlined process. Participants discussed proposed language.

Daniels/Alper and unanimously approved 2-0.
