Background During the summer, the maintenance department and technology department complete routine maintenance, renovations, and upgrades. With the age of our facilities, it is critical to perform regular maintenance. Additionally, the technology department supports summer schools at two sites which leaves about two weeks during summer that campuses completely clear. During that time, major system maintenance is performed.
Current Considerations The summer maintenance projects for both departments are critical times to get into classrooms, to repair and update systems, and to take advantage of mobilizing teams for big jobs. This summer the project list includes carpet cleaning, carpentry repair, filter cleaning, electrical inspections and repairs, supporting teacher classroom moves, replacing all wireless access points, upgrading the VOIP phone system controllers, updating the operating systems on all district computers and iPads, website redesign and clean-up, and general account maintenance. Financial Implications All projects have been budgeted and accounted for with the exception of the fire alarm panel project at Palm Crest. The estimated cost for repair and replacement is $10,000 with an additional $2,500 for preventative measures.
