Quick Summary / Abstract:

Members of the public may address the Board on items not on the agenda. The Board will allow comments by members of the public on an agenda item during consideration of the item. Speakers will be allowed up to three (3) minutes. The Board shall limit the total time for public input on each item to 15 minutes. With Board consent, the Board President may increase or decrease the time allowed for public presentation, depending on the topic and the number of persons wishing to be heard.  It is requested that persons wishing to speak please come forward to the podium and begin by stating their full name. Please be advised that the Brown Act prohibits discussion or action on non-agenda items, and imposes limitations on board members’ responses to public comments. (Government Code section 54954.2(a).) Complaints against specific District employees should be resolved through the District’s Personnel Complaint Procedure. The right to address the Board does not exempt the speaker from any potential liability for defamation. The proceedings of the Board are public record.

  • Connect new relocatable classrooms to the Sanitary Sewer line

Farmington Elementary School received a donation from the Escalon Educational Foundation on behalf of Dave and Sally Mantooth in the amount of $3800. This money was intended to be used for Gallo Field Trips and the academic needs of the Farmington Students.

15.7. Consider Approval of New ELD Supplemental Curriculum for Grades 6-8

Rationale:

District and school site staff met to review options for supplemental ELD curriculum. EL Portal Middle School ELD teachers have piloted supplemental curriculum, HMH Escalate, that aligns with current English Language Arts adoption, HMH Collections and would like to begin using the materials for the 2019-2020 school year.  




 
Recommended Motion:

The Administration Recommends the Escalon Unified School District Board of Trustees Approve New ELD Supplemental Curriculum for Grades 6-8.

15.8. Consider Approval of New ELA Curriculum for Grades K-5.

Rationale:

Eighteen district teachers have piloted three different ELA curriculums. At the end of the pilot, the teachers met and decided that HMH Journeys would be the recommendation for future curriculum. At a previous board meeting the board was board was informed, and a thirty day preview period began. The recommendation is being brought back to the board for their approval of HMH Journeys as the new curriculum for grades K-5.

The Administration Recommends the Escalon Unified School District Board of Trustees Approve the New ELA Curriculum for Grades K-5.
