Quick Summary / Abstract:

Members of the public may address the Board on items not on the agenda. The Board will allow comments by members of the public on an agenda item during consideration of the item. Speakers will be allowed up to three (3) minutes. The Board shall limit the total time for public input on each item to 15 minutes. With Board consent, the Board President may increase or decrease the time allowed for public presentation, depending on the topic and the number of persons wishing to be heard.  It is requested that persons wishing to speak please come forward to the podium and begin by stating their full name. Please be advised that the Brown Act prohibits discussion or action on non-agenda items, and imposes limitations on board members’ responses to public comments. (Government Code section 54954.2(a).) Complaints against specific District employees should be resolved through the District’s Personnel Complaint Procedure. The right to address the Board does not exempt the speaker from any potential liability for defamation. The proceedings of the Board are public record.

14.2. Consider Approval of a Short-Term Assignment for Gateway Charter School.
Rationale:

As per Education Code #45101 (a), which amends E.C. 45103 regarding District short-term employee assignments, the Board of Trustees at a regularly scheduled meeting must specify the service required to be performed by an employee and certify the ending date of such service.


SHORT-TERM ASSIGNMENT;              Special Ed. Instructional Assistant, Gateway (1)

                                                                Up to 3.75 hours daily; up to three (3) days weekly

Additional Assistant time may be needed to support the short-term individual needs of special education students.

Funding:  Charter 

                                                            Effective:  January 15, 2020 – May 28, 2020







 
Recommended Motion:

The Administration Recommends the Escalon Unified School District Board of Trustees Approve the Short-Term Assignment for Gateway Academy.





14.3. Consider Approval for Contingency Fund Requests (Change Orders) 12 - 16 for CT Brayton & Sons for the Dent Modernization Project

Change Orders 12 - 16 will make the following changes to the project:

CFR 12 - Connect New Storm Drain at Building A

CFR 13 - Removal of old play structure on the Kindergarten yard

CFR 14 - Provide Wrought Iron Fencing and Gates at the trash enclosure in lieu of chain link

CFR 15 - Reroute the high and low voltage conduits through building "E" in this phase vs next

CFR 16 - Refabricate and install revised fire sprinkler piping due to conflicting draft stops

 
Financial Impact:

CFR 12 will use $3,133.00 of the Contingency Fund

CFR 13 will use $2,673.00 of the Contingency Fund

CFR 14 will use $7,325.00 of the Contingency Fund

CFR 15 will use $10,234.00 of the Contingency Fund

CFR 16 will use $16,757.00 of the Contingency Fund

Recommended Motion:

The Administration Recommends the Board of Trustees Approve Contingency Fund Requests 12 - 16 for CT Brayton & Sons for the Dent Elementary Modernization Project.

14.4. Consider Approval of a Donation to Van Allen Elementary School From Escalon Educational Foundation
Rationale:

Escalon Educational Foundation (EFF) donated $250.00, check.  EEF held an event  "Edible Expo!" where a donation from VA's PTC donated an auction item (rake with lottery tickets) for a silent auction.  The $250.00 was raised and donated back to VA from EEF.

 
Recommended Motion:

The Administration Recommends the Escalon Unified School District Board of Trustees Approve Donation to Van Allen.
