The District requests the Board of Trustees approve the specific Board Policies and Administrative Regulations – June 2021 Updates – Part Two: -BP 5141.52 – Suicide Prevention - Expands material regarding stakeholder engagement and best practices for suicide prevention, intervention, and postvention, and for consistency with CDE’s Model Youth Suicide Prevention Policy.
-AR 5141.52 – Suicide Prevention - Expand by adding to the list of participants for suicide prevention training. And that school counselors may disclose a student’s personal information to report child abuse and neglect as required by law.
-BP 5142.2 – Safe Routes to School Program - Clarifies potential liability issues.

Board Policy 6200, Authorization to Transfer, allows students, ages 16-18, enrolled in a continuation school or a comprehensive high school and not making satisfactory progress toward a high school diploma, to be transferred to the Adult School program. Written permission from the student's parent or guardian is required as well as a review and approval by a hearing panel that includes representatives from a comprehensive high school, a continuation school program, the Adult Education program, the Student Services Department and the student's school Assistant Principal. All student transfers under this policy must be approved by the Board of Trustees. Board approval is required for two (2) student to transfer to the Adult School based upon Board Policy 6200. |

On October 14, 2021, the District received a proposal from Capital Engineering Consultants in response to the District's RFP for Mechanical Engineering Services for the Districtwide HVAC Controls Replacement Project. The proposal has been reviewed by administration and Greystone West Company, the District’s construction manager. |
The fee for mechanical engineering design and project services is to be hourly, based on Exhibit C – Compensation and Fee Schedule of the Agreement. The mechanical engineering services fee is built into the project budget. There is no overall change to the project budget Fund 21. |

It is recommended that the Board of Trustees approve issuing a request and receiving proposals from the District's Approved Pool of Architects for the Burlingame and San Mateo High Schools Gymnasium projects. |
The administration requests the permission of the Board of Trustees to issue a request for proposals to the following architect firms approved at the October 8, 2020, board meeting for the District’s Pool of Approved Architects for Measure L Projects : Quattrocchi Kwok Architects, Hibser Yamauchi Architects, HKIT Architects, Gelfand Partners Architects and HED Corporation. The District intends to select a firm (or firms) that can design the replacement of the gymnasium complex at Burlingame High School with new small and large gymnasiums and the replacement the small gymnasium at San Mateo High School. |

On April 15, 2021, the Board approved the architect agreement with CA+SA for architectural design services on the District-wide Public Address System Upgrade project. After consulting with its construction management firm, Greystone West Company, and the architectural firm, CA+SA Studio, it was determined that the Design/Build delivery method would offer more creative solutions to accomplish the goal of the project which is to migrate the PA system from a propriety system to an open-source system with readily available parts and non-exclusive service agreements. |

That new position incorporated some of the duties contained in the District Receptionist/HR Technician job description. Therefore, the District Receptionist/HR Technician has been revised with new duties that will replace the job duties transferred to the District Athletic Coordinator/HR Technician. The new duties include assisting the Communications staff, the Superintendent's office and recruitment efforts. |
