5.1.1. Purchase Order in Excess of $45,000

Rationale:
In order to address the immediate and urgent need to provide equity in access to instruction for our students during the COVID-19 pandemic, the District has been able to procure wireless hotspots for students. These items are in extreme demand, and in limited supply. Although the purchase exceeds the Superintendent's authorization level by approximately $4,000, the District proceeded with submitting the purchase order to this vendor in order to acquire these urgently needed items. These items have not been received as of yet.

Recommended Motion:
IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES RATIFY THE PURCHASE OF WIRELESS HOTSPOTS FOR STUDENTS IN THE DISTRICT.
Financial Impact:
The cost for the acquisition of these hotspots is $49,250

5.1.2. Quote from TMobile to Provide Hotspot Service for Students in the District

Rationale:
The District has received a scalable quote of not to exceed an annual $109,000 for service for each hotspot that the District utilizes. The quote that we received from TMobile is based on a NASBO agreement, which was the result of a competitive bid process that was utilized. If the district does not utilize 12 months of service for each of the 450 hotspots, the annual cost to the district will be less than $109,000. We can activate and deactivate individual hotspots as necessary.

Recommended Motion:
IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES APPROVE THE QUOTE BY TMOBIL TO PROVIDE HOTSPOT SERVICE FOR STUDENTS IN THE DISTRICT.
Financial Impact:
An annual cost of up to $109,000. The District will use general fund, and any relief funds provided in conjunction with the COVID 19 virus that the district receives.
