6. SUPERINTENDENT SERVICES/BOARD

6.1. Early Literacy- 2021-2022 Data Review Speaker: Diego R. Ochoa, Superintendent Rationale: A key responsibility of the San Mateo-Foster City School District is to ensure that all children become proficient readers. Early Literacy is at the heart of a school district's academic health. When children enter 4th grade reading at grade level, they are able to access content in a variety of subjects. Conversely, when children enter 4th grade below or significantly below grade level, they are hampered in their ability to learn math, science, history, and other subjects.    Recommended Motion: Administration recommends that the Board analyze and discuss 2021-2022 achievement data focusing on early literacy. 6.2. COVID Data Analysis: Survey data, SM County data, and pooled testing data Speaker: Diego R. Ochoa, Superintendent Rationale: The State of California is changing school masking recommendations effective March 14, 2022. These changes must be discussed among members of our community. We will analyze survey data, case rate data, vaccination data, and pooled testing data.   Recommended Motion: Administration recommends that the Board discuss this data and agendize the topic for the March 10, 2022 regular meeting.
