Quick Summary / Abstract:

Rationale:

Purpose

The Board of Education will be presented with Santa Rosa City Schools Theory of Action (TOA). An analysis of student outcomes through various data points and demographics to lead the discussion and analysis of our student outcomes with the Board of Education. The Board will also receive information on the district's Theory of Action and future steps to ensure all Santa Rosa City School student are provided with equitable access to educational programs that are Common Core State Standards aligned.

Considerations

As a district it is our responsibility to meet the goals of the SRCS Strategic plan and the Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP). Through the use of data, including monitoring school and student progress on the California State Dashboard, we can see both positive and negative trends aligned to student performance.

Ensuring that race, ethnicity, language, differently abled, and socioeconomic status are not the predictor of student outcomes, carefully and thoughtfully analyzing student data is imperative to promote future successful student outcomes. Looking at many different data sets and associated metrics, it is clear that the disparity of students is not equal amongst subgroups.

Through the analysis of data and evaluating student need, our Theory of Action (TOA) was created. A Theory of Action is an evidenced-based story that explains the specific changes that will be made to improve teaching and learning. The TOA was created through 6 years of “systems alignment” work.

The presentation will include:
