As our students are increasingly the victims of hate speech in a variety of school settings, including in classrooms, hallways, our gyms, fields, and courts and when they travel to other schools for athletic contests, we would like to have this resolution passed by the board to provide us with direction to implement specific steps and actions at our schools and with our athletic leagues. The athletic fields and courts where our students participate in their athletic endeavors need to be safe for them and free of hate speech. It needs to be each community's responsibility to work toward accomplishing this and ensuring these are safe spaces for all students. This resolution will help us work with our league schools to develop specific plans and procedures for addressing hate speech in these settings. |

This is the required public disclosure related to an increase in pay for classified members that provide coverage for certificated staff. This has been needed because of the substitute shortage and has been necessary to keep our schools open. We appreciate our classified staff for stepping up to assist where ever needed during these difficult times. |

We are in the process of addressing some needed repairs to the Mount Shasta High School track. The concrete and track surface is cracking in a a number of areas. These repairs will cost between $15,000 and $20,000 and provide a safe running surface for a season or two. The major decision needed is how to address the need for a replacement track for the future. Options range from $250,000 to $2,000,000. I will provide the board with information regarding these options, potential timelines, funding available and recommendations from our construction manager. |
Provide staff with general direction for next steps. |
