At the October 31, 2019 Special Board Meeting, the Board selected candidates to be interviewed for the Board vacancy. The candidates will be notified and will be prepared to address the Board at the November 12, 2019 meeting regarding their interests and qualifications for becoming a member of the Board. The candidates will be prepared to address the Board individually, in the Boardroom, using the following format: The candidate will have three minutes to make opening statement to the Board, followed by questions from the Board. The candidate will have two minutes to respond to each Board question. Following the question and answer period, the candidate will have two minutes to summarize his/her qualifications. The same questions, in the same order, will be asked of each candidate. At the conclusion of the question and answer period, all candidates will convene in the Boardroom, and the Board will select the new Board Member according to Robert's Rules of Order, with a motion and a second, followed by a vote of at least three members. The new Board Member will be sworn in following the provisional appointment at the November 12, 2019 meeting, and will immediately assume his/her seat as a member of the Board of Education.

It is recommended the Board approve the procedure for selecting and appointing a new Board Member.

Approval is requested for up to two parents per school site and two District staff members to attend the local California Association for Bilingual Education (CABE) Mini Conference at Otay Ranch High School on Saturday, November 9, 2019. Title I funds will be used to pay the $100 per person cost.

The Board will meet in closed session with its labor negotiators Ms. Erica Balakian, Mr. Eddie Caballero, Mrs. Sheree Stopper, and Mrs. Teresa Moudry to discuss negotiations regarding the Lemon Grove Teachers Association, the California School Employees Association, Confidential Employees, and Management Employees.

On Wednesday October 23rd, the district reached a settlement agreement with ##### regarding OAH Case No. 2019080607. District agrees to reimburse Parent compensatory educational services from Mathnasium Learning Center that Student has received during the 2019-20 and 2020-21 school years in an amount not to exceed $4,674. District agrees to fund attorneys’ fees in an amount not to exceed $5,300.
