This item gives the Board the opportunity to discuss the “homework” for the San Mateo County School Boards Association’s (SMCSBA) Equity Network workshop series. In particular, the participating board members can get advice on the District Profile worksheet.

For this item, the Board will first hold a public hearing, and then take action on Resolution #4. That the Board of Trustees hold a Public Hearing on October 17, 2019, on the assurance of textbook sufficiency. Following the Public Hearing that the Board of Trustees approves Resolution #4 assuring compliance with Education Code 60119(c) for adequacy of instructional materials and content alignment for pupils in the Belmont-Redwood Shores School District.

The Board of Trustees will receive an update from the Superintendent regarding the local indicators for the California School Dashboard. The California School Dashboard is the state’s reporting tool to communicate how schools and school districts are progressing in each of the priority areas listed in the Local Control Accountability Plan. There are six state indicators that draw from state assessment data, attendance information, and suspension and graduation rates. There are an additional five local indicators Local Education Agencies (LEAs) are to report upon.
