The Board will be presented with a budget update for the 2020/2021 Budget Adoption process, based on the information received from the Governor's May Revise released on May 14th. The May Revise proposes reductions of -10% to school districts in California. In the Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF), the primary source of state funding for schools, this equates to an adjustment of -7.92% to the Cost Of Living Adjustment (COLA). For Sylvan USD, this represents a revenue reduction projected to be at $7.4 million for the 2020/2021 Budget. Staff will be providing the board with more specifics on the May Revise, the impact this presents to Sylvan and requesting board direction on reductions to our budget expenditures as we prepare for the next steps in the budget adoption process. |
