6.a. APPROVE ESSENTIAL PURCHASES FOR IMPLEMENTING SYLVAN SeLECT AND REOPENING SCHOOLS FOR 2020-21

Rationale:
During COVID-19 school closures, students must have daily, live interaction with certificated employees and their peers for the purposes of instruction, progress monitoring, and maintaining school connectedness (Ed. Code, Ā§ 43503(b). Sylvan Union School District understands the importance of ensuring that teachers and students have the materials necessary to fully participate in a high-quality educational program. To support teacher and student access to curriculum and instruction in a digital platform and prepare for the implementation of Sylvan SeLECT (Student eLearning Experiences Connected through Technology) at the beginning of the 2020-21 school year, the most essential tools and equipment have been identified for procurement.
 
Recommended Motion:
Staff recommends the Board of Trustees approve the itemized list of essential purchases for implementing Sylvan SeLECT and reopening schools for 2020-21.
