Approval of Minutes:
Leyva-Cutler/Alper 2-0. BP/AR 6164.6 re 504 Plans Chair Alper explained that the proposed revised draft policy is in response to a complaint filed with the Office of Civil Rights. Student Services Manager James Wogan added that there were concerns around the identification of students in need of 504 plans. The BP and the AR were updated to reflect the agreement reached with OCR. Participants reviewed and discussed proposed changes. This item will come back for further discussion reflective of OCR’s direction. The policy regarding education for homeless students will be reviewed at the next meeting. BP 6164- Education for English Language Learner Students. Paula Phillips explained that this policy needs to be updated per federal program monitoring. She pointed out that some policy references listed in CSBA’s sample policy, which was accepted by FPM’s audit, are policies that BUSD has not adopted. There is a deadline to meet the required compliance. Motion to approve revised BP for the purposes of meeting FPM’s deadline: Alper/Leyva-Cutler and unanimously approved. Adjourn: 11:17am |
