and submit comments on items on the agenda and on any item within the jurisdiction of the Governing Board using a GOOGLE FORM.

General public comments on non-agenda items must be received by 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 13, 2020 to be read aloud at the board meeting. Comments on agenda items may be received up until the item is under consideration. If a comment is received after Public Comment has been closed, it will be considered written communication and will be forwarded to the Governing Board.

Comments may not exceed three (3) minutes. If a comment takes longer than three (3) minutes to read aloud, the remainder will be considered written communication and forwarded to the Governing Board.

Kathleen Masiello Ciffone, Special Education Teacher at Blossom Hill & Louise Van Mater will increase to (.80 FTE) beginning Monday August 10, 2020.

Christopher Nestlerode has been offered a Probationary Science Teacher position (1.0 FTE) at R.J. Fisher Middle School effective Friday, August 7, 2020.

Maggie Verdoia, English Teacher at R.J. Fisher Middle School will reduce to (.60 FTE) beginning Monday, August 10, 2020.

Steve Waste has been offered a Probationary English Teacher position (1.0 FTE) at R.J. Fisher Middle School effective Friday, August 7, 2020.

C.5. Consolidated Application for the 2020-2021 School Year
Quick Summary / Abstract:

The Consolidated Application for the 2020-2021 School Year is presented to the Governing Board for approval and action. It is the recommendation of the Chief Business Official and Superintendent that the Governing Board approve the Consolidated Application as presented.

Rationale:

The Consolidated Application is submitted to the California Department of Education to indicate the Los Gatos Union School District intends to participate in the 2020-2021 Consolidated Categorical Programs for which the District is eligible. The programs are as follows: 


Program Description 
Title II - Part A Title II funds support increased student achievement through professional development to improve the teacher quality and ensure teachers and administrators meet the No Child Left Behind requirements as highly qualified. 

Title III - Part A Title III provides resources to enable all Limited English Proficient students attain English proficiency, develop high levels of academic understanding, and meet the same state academic standards as all other students.
 
Recommended Motion:

It is recommendation of the Chief Business Official and Superintendent that the Governing Board approve the Consolidated Application for the 2020-2021 school year as presented.

Financial Impact:

The financial impact for the district is estimated to be $30,940 from the two federal programs listed in the consolidated application.

C.6. Williams Uniform Complaints Quarterly Report
Quick Summary / Abstract:
The Williams Complaints Quarterly Report as of June 30, 2019 is presented to the Governing Board for approval and action.  It is the recommendation of the Assistant Superintendent and the Superintendent that the Governing Board approve the report as presented.
Rationale:

According to the settlement of the Williams case, school districts are required to report quarterly to their governing boards any complaints they have received with regard to textbooks and instructional materials, teacher vacancy or misassignment, or facilities conditions, as required by Education Code 35186.

Between April 1, 2019 through June 30, 2019 there were no complaints received by the District.

These quarterly reports will be filed with the Santa Clara County Office of Education.

 
Recommended Motion:
It is the recommendation of the Assistant Superintendent and the Superintendent that the Governing Board approve the Quarterly Report on the Williams Uniform Complaints.
Financial Impact:
There is no financial impact at this time.
D. STRATEGIC INITIATIVES
D.1. 2020-2021 Reopening School Update
Quick Summary / Abstract:
District administrators will provide an update on the reopening plan to the Governing Board for discussion.
Rationale:

At the July 30th board meeting, an update on the reopening plan for the 2020-2021 school year was presented to the Board of Trustees. Santa Clara County remains on the watchlist and school opened in the Virtual Classroom phase today, August 13, 2020.

The administrative staff will provide an update on all aspects of reopening school for the 2020-2021 school year.

 
Recommended Motion:
An update on the reopening plan is provided to the Governing Board for discussion.
