Background The La Cañada and Glendale Unified School Districts have been informed by multiple organizations that a negotiated agreement is the best way to accomplish a territory transfer related to the Sagebrush area. After extensive research and communication with Glendale Unified School District, the Los Angeles County Office of Education, the City of La Cañada Flintridge, stakeholder groups, and other participants, there is still a need to research and identify mutually agreeable options for the potential transfer of territory. Current Considerations Changes in student enrollment will have significant impact on La Cañada and Glendale Unified School Districts. There will be impacts on staffing, facilities, and finances to each district, and a successful transition requires these variables to be thoroughly addressed and planned for in order to mitigate as many impacts as possible. Capitol Advisors has specialists who work on these issues across the state. The organization has extensive knowledge of schools, facilities, and state funding. The objective is to utilize the knowledge base of Capitol Advisors to strategize specific steps for an equitable reallocation of the potential transfer of territory between La Cañada Unified School District and the Glendale Unified School District. Financial Implications The Services Agreement is for $15,000. Travel expenses may add up to an additional $1,500. The cost of the contract will be shared equally between the La Cañada Unified School District, the Glendale Unified School District, and the City of La Cañada Flintridge with La Cañada Unified being the contracting agency.
